Hello, everyone ♥
Here I am! Back from temporary hibernation.
How was everyone's Holiday?
Mine was very pleasant and relaxing; I finally had
the chance to kick back and unwind from all the
stress wreaked upon me over these past few months.

Of course, with the close of the Holiday season comes a little bit of
melancholy, but I've always had a sort of tradition to shoo those blues away . . .
Summer vacation planning!
"Summer vacation?! It's only January!" some of you might be thinking.
My answer-- that's precisely why I begin planning now! Doing so
ensures me of something exciting to look forward to over these cold
winter months. And if you currently live in a frosty, bone-rattling
winter months. And if you currently live in a frosty, bone-rattling
climate like I do, you'd probably understand the therapeutics
in thinking of beach towels, sunny days, and flip flops!
So what do I have in mind this year for an excursion?
(and a New England one at that, of course!)
Martha's Vineyard!
Ever since I picked up Susan Branch's Autumn book
and fell head over heals with New England, Martha's Vineyard
has always been one of the top places I've wished to travel to.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with MV, it is a small island
off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts that has been
a summering haven for well over a hundred years.

From the bustling harbor of Vineyard Haven, to the
stately Captain homes in Edgartown, the towns of Martha's
Vineyard promise something wonderful for every kind of traveler.

Happy New Year, Erin, and may all your New England dreams come true!!! Your kitties are purrfect Christmas photo ops! Robin.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, my friend!!! So happy to see a new post from you!!!
ReplyDeleteI think when you plan your MV vacation you should squeeze in a pit stop on the North Shore!!! ::hint hint:: :-)
My best friend and I, along with two of my daughters will be heading to the Brimfield Flea Market in May. We are flying into Boston on the Friday before so that we can travel to Martha's Vineyard for a day and perhaps Salem as well. I look forward to hearing all about your plans.

Oh Erin...I wish I was able to go with you to MV and walk by Susan Branch's house!!! Oh my...would that be fun or what???? I can't wait to read the rest of this story...

Hi Erin! So glad you got a well-deserved rest after all your studies. Your tree and house look absolutely darling. And Martha's Vineyard is a FABULOUS destination to plan for. I wonder if Susan Branch will be there in the summer. You could maybe meet her! Wouldn't that be the pizazz? Can't wait to read more about your trip plans. Susan p.s. LOVE LOVE LOVE your header. Where is it from?
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, so glad you're rested! I love Susan Branch! The Vineyard is a perfect vacation spot! Enjoy the planning!
ReplyDeleteYou will love MV. It, in my humble opinion is very different than Nantucket. Both are wonderful get- a -ways, but one island is more subdued.
ReplyDeleteNice photos of Martha's Vineyard! Our family loves visiting there as well and we created a site dedicated to the Vineyard and our photos and experiences...so much fun!

Happy New Year, Erin! I love MV, too. I hope to get down there this summer at some point. I'm planning a trip to Disney at the end of Feb, and can't wait to go, so I know what you mean about planning a getaway, it's so exciting! Stay warm, if you can!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year Erin,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and for your kind words about the magazine article. I am yearning for New England too and though I love going to the Vineyard and visiting Sue Branch and Joe Hall (they spoil us), we still LOVE Maine and think you should venture north!
All joys to you dear Erin,

ReplyDeleteYour kitties are so cute! I got my doggie a preasent this yr and she loved it!
I would love to visit the north eastern coast! I live in sc and we got to mrytle beach but it aint that nice like maine!
Your decorations are all so lovely but my favorite part of the pictures is seeing Lola's very unusually beautiful tail! I know, I'm the weird cat woman...
ReplyDeleteMV is a perfect place to vaction. Those colorful gothic/gingerbread houses are in Oak Bluffs and I just love to go and walk there. I have a photo of a lovely groon and White one bearing a sign with my name. Alas, it is not really mine, just in my dreams.
Can't wait to hear more about your plans.
Happy New Year to you and your Mom.

Hi Erin, Just popping in to wish you a very Happy New Year. Yes this is indeed a good time to plan your trip to MV. I havent been there is a long time maybe this summer. Have fun with your planning.
ReplyDeleteWhen you are planning your trip for the summer holidays, add a side bar to visit the nantucket in Boston Harbor. It was on Long Island for eight years, but it is there now being restored. Cheers for a lovely and healthy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those gingerbread houses! I haven't been to the Vineyard in years (MANY years, in fact)! The last time I was there, we bumped into James Taylor (NO JOKE... we were running across the street late one evening and we bumped into him... talk about embarrassing!!! -- the closest I've come to "meeting" a celebrity!) lol
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhhh I just love a little MV post, looking foward to hearing your plans. The summer we were waiting for my daughter to arrive I worked on the Vineyard and it has special memories for me.
ReplyDeleteI love Martha's vineyard.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever been, or will this be your first time?? Either way, you are going to have a fantastic time!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Gloria
